Dumplin

If your Mum is into musicals and Dolly Parton, this campy rags to riches tale stars Jennifer Anniston as a pageant winner who takes her on neice after her mother passes away. While it sounds heavy, the premise of an overweight alternative girl taking on the pageant circuit is a complete romp and will have you singing along the whole way.

Kath & Kimderella

If your Mum is noice, different and un-yousual join the foxiest morons from Fountain Lakes as they win a trip to Papaloma. A rich Australian cast and unique humour will keep you giggling.

The Laundromat

If dark comedy is more of your Mum’s sense of humour then this is the film for you. Starring Meryl Streep and Antonio Banderas this witty true story follows a widow who loses her insurance money after the death of her husband to the super rich.

The Big Sick

if you are looking for a romantic comedy with a twist. The film follows Kumail, a comic who falls in love with Emily (Zoe Kazan) when the relationship turns when Emily falls into a coma, Kumail develops a close relationship with Emily’s parents Beth (Holly Hunter) and Terry (Ray Romano) it is funny, it is romantic, it is incredibly teary.

Always Be My Maybe

Keeping on the rom-com train, this film follows Sasha (Ali Wong) who moves back to her hometown after a recent break up and reconnects with her high school boyfriend Marcus (Randall Park). The film also stars Keanu Reeves as himself and Randall Park’s band Hello Peril provide some hilarious songs (you can find them on Spotify!)

Mother’s Day

If you want to get all sentimental, this would be the pick that may get you over the line. This ensemble comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Julia Roberts is mostly forgettable…except on Mother’s Day!

I Am Mother

If your Mum is into sci-fi this is definitely one to watch. Rose Byrne and Hilary Swank star in this Aussie made apolcalyptic sci fi thriller that sees all of humanity seemingly wiped out. A teen is raised alone by a maternal robot. What could go wrong?

Wonder Woman : Bloodlines

I know an animated movie? If you have a younger audience and want something the whole family can watch this could be it. The full feature film is not available on Netflix so this a great substitute. Voice acting by Rosario Dawson and Jeffrey Donovan make this an animation must watch.

Murder Mystery

– Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston star as a couple who head on a European vacation to reinvigorate their marriage. When they unsuspectingly get caught up in a murder, the trip takes a turn and the two must prove their innocence. It is a lot of fun and packs a lot of laughs.
