Unhinged Review

Unhinged stars Russell Crowe, Caren Pistorius, Jimmi Simpson, and Gabriel Batemen in this super intense film about a really bad day.

The storyline is straightforward, a very unstable man becomes enraged at a stranger on the road – this quickly escalates into more about her life and those closer to her than she could ever have anticipated. From a simple premise, the movie truly stands out by the performances by Russell Crowe and Caren Pistorius as Rachel. You can truly feel the anger, the fear, the frustration from these characters.

The duration is short and sweet at just 90 minutes. Unhinged brilliantly shines at what most movies lack in car chasing scenes – the pure intensity of an average person in a broken down car will do to get her son to safety – most movies based around car chases always have a professional driver in a super hyped up car, so this was a nice and realistic change.

Derrick Borte as the director did a brilliant job, especially adding the introduction sequence to the film, but by far if it was not for the correct cast that was chosen this may not have worked as well as it did.

Highly recommend checking this out on the big screen!
