Matt Reeves remaking Sputnik

One of 2020’s best horror films Sputnik is being remade for American audiences courtesy of veteran director Matt Reeves.

The rights have been purchased by Village Roadshow Pictures, with vice president Jillian Apfelbaum saying “We believe Sputnik will translate well to English-speaking audiences and continue to captivate moviegoers worldwide with its thrilling story. We are eager to begin production and believe we have some of the best partners in the industry to reimagine Egor’s original vision while staying true to the film’s journey,”

Matt Reeves successfully directed the latest Planet of the Apes trilogy and is currently wrapping production on The Batman starring Robert Pattinson. The movie is set in the 1980’s and follows a doctor recruited by the military to monitor a return traveller who has come back from space with a mysterious organism living inside him.
